Job Description for Certified Hemodialysis Technician

A certified hemodialysis technician performs several tasks necessary to complete the dialysis for a medical patient. A certified hemodialysis technician works under the direction of a licensed nurse to perform the variety of technical procedures for the patient's dialysis. The hemodialysis technician often helps patients climb into any necessary machines and makes any necessary connections while causing minimal discomfort to the patient. The hemodialysis technician also addresses any questions or concerns that the patient or their loved ones may have related to equipment. After the patient is secure, the hemodialysis technician operates the dialysis machinery and ensures continued patient comfort. After the dialysis process is complete, the hemodialysis technician helps the patient exit the dialysis machine and escorts them into the care of another healthcare professional.
