Job Description for Certified Medical Coding Supervisor

Certified medical coding supervisors typically work in the billing department of a hospital, clinic, or doctor's office to supervise coding/billing staff members and ensure that all data is entered into the computer system in a timely manner. With the human resources (HR) staff, these supervisors may be involved in hiring, training, and firing employees, and they must also keep their certified coding licenses current as issued by the AAPC or AHIMA. Timely performance evaluation reviews are also necessary on a regular basis in accordance with the employer's policies and guidelines.
