"Working in pharmacy is rewarding as helping other people."
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPHT):
Pros: The job I have offers a variety of job duties. No two days are the same. I like being able to help people on a daily basis. I have formed many friendships in the position.
Cons: I do not like the demanding people or the fact that they do not take their own health care seriously. I wish the understood the need to follow through on physician visits. Bring your health insurance card with you please.

Choose a different career.
January 2015
"Know the payscale."
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPHT):
Know the payscale for this job before you begin the studying and paying for the various fees, certificates, and exam. I was under the impression that my pay would double upon completion of passing the exam and becoming Certified, and then up to triple with a few years of experience. Also, find out what your employer has planned for you, they may not intend to train you completely in order to keep your pay rate lower.

"Is there a CphT job bubble?"
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPHT):
In my profession, I find a lot of new certified techs looking for work. There also seems to be a lot of new schools offering certification programs than ever, as I was once approached to instruct one. I turned it down, since it truly should be taught by a Pharmacist, in my opinion. I realized then it was about the money. Pump as many out of classes in a hurry at the least cost to the training company. While there are very talented Techs who could teach the class, the National exam is based on more knowledge of a Pharmacist. Let's face it, you are the main right hand of the Pharmacist. That being said, where are the jobs? Why is this field not growing like once predicted by "experts"? What are all these people doing since they have spent time and money for these classes and still have to spend more money for continued education to keep their certification? Before signing up for a class, make sure it is accredited and they have job assistance with a high placement rating.
