Clinical Therapist Reviews

Q: What is it like working as a Clinical Therapist?

Clinical Therapist in Tempe:
"The Field that Keeps on Giving."
Pros: I love making a difference in other peoples lives!
Cons: This career doesn't pay much, compared to others. You definitely have to do it for the love of helping others.

Clinical Therapist in Washington:
"Enjoyable."
Pros: The city and opportunities to explore the city.
Cons: The traffic and parking.

Clinical Therapist in Sioux Falls:
"Work Flexibility, friendly and helpful co-workers, office."
Pros: Great place to work with friendly people and helpful co-workers. Job satisfaction is great.
Cons: None.

Clinical Therapist in Phoenix:
"Community Agency Therapist."
Pros: Helping others, seeing a variety of people, diversity. I enjoy learning and using what I have learned in school. To help others. I enjoy my co-workers and feel supported by them.
Cons: The intense back-to-back schedule of seeing clients. Feeling exhausted and drained, the extensive case management. The push is never ending from upper management.

Clinical Therapist in Gurnee:
"Clinical Massage Therapist."
Pros: I feel relief that my clients live longer because when I massage them their bodies look a live and less gray. When I see a mom still be able to see her mom in 2 weeks that is the best feeling ever! Or she gets to see her again on Mothers Day. It's a whole new way of feeling.
Cons: I get people who are rude during and show up 30 mins late and expect a full body massage in 30 mins.

Clinical Therapist in Hemet:
"My Experience."
Pros: The level of responsibility I have to care for my clients and help them work through their issues. Also, the level of independence I have with my job is something I enjoy greatly.
Cons: With the amount of responsibility comes the level of liability. Dealing with mental health there are always risks with mentally unstable clients, and often I am looked to for the answers, which can be very stressful.

Clinical Therapist in Phoenix:
"Difficult to Pay the Bills."
This career is very rewarding, challenging, and fulfilling. However, as a single mom, going into debt to get my MA in Counseling (60 credit degree with 1 year, 20 hour a week internship) while working full time, to only make 2k more was difficult. I pay $500 a month for health insurance for my son and I, and the coverage is poor. I love my job, but the pay and benefits are terrible. If you go into Counseling, get your LAC right away, so you can be a LPC in 2 years. Slightly more money can be made in a well run private practice or working in management. This career is about purpose... Be prepared to not make much money.
