Job Description for Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Assistant

An Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) assistant tends to serve different functions depending on the company they work for. Some deal solely with the recycling program of their business. In an effort to keep their business within Environmental Protection Agency guidelines and regulations, others may be involved in activities that are far more in-depth. As an assistant, they tend not to stay in their position very long since it is usually just a stepping stone in the industry. The educational requirement for this position is generally a bachelor's degree in program related to EHS, such as occupational health and safety. Some businesses prefer applicants that have taken some master's level coursework in a related field. On-the-job experience is not typically required as it is an assistant position.
