Job Description for Facility Coordinator
A facility coordinator is generally the person within an organization who is responsible for managing all building and equipment maintenance. The person can act as a “middleman” among company employees and contractors who operate within the building. This position will be found in a variety of facilities, such as office buildings, schools, hospitals, and manufacturing plants.Read More...
This person will generally work in an indoor environment. However, some physical labor can be required. While this position often keeps weekday, daytime hours, it is important to note that they may be required to be available during emergency, on-call situations within the organization. This position may not require formal education, but it can often require related work experience. This person is often known as a “jack of all trades” who can remedy most any situation within the building.
A facility coordinator is a person whose job is always changing and evolving; it can even be different from day to day. Some typical responsibilities and duties associated with the position include managing all building maintenance, managing all equipment maintenance, ensuring proper schedules for employees, ensuring the safety of buildings and equipment, testing security systems within the building, preparing for emergency situations, assisting with the planning of future projects within the organization, maintaining communication with vendors, and maintaining communication with necessary building personnel. This person should have excellent communication skills and the ability to manage several projects at once.
