Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW):
Pros: I make my own schedule, I work for myself. Work 4 days per week at a high hourly rate. I am paid by Insurance companies and employee assistance programs and do contract work. Freedom to make my own schedule and choose when to work and what hours to work.
Cons: Overhead ~ Pay monthly rent for my office. No benefits: no retirement or medical insurance. Pay high monthly fee and high deductible for medical Insurance. Pay for Liability Insurance. Responsible for high risk clients ~ if homicide or suicide, lawsuits come. Any Board complaint is investigated, sometimes taking one year to resolve.

Pros: The ability to be adabtable and working with a lot of different people with the goal to help the client.
Cons: Never being in one place for two days, always carrying my work with me.

Never allow others to take you for granted. Being an LCSW therapist is a very important, necessary job. Always hold your head up and be sure to take care of yourself because if you cannot take care of yourself, you cannot take care of others.
