Job Description for Medical Coder

Those working as medical coders are responsible for transferring diagnostic and treatment terms from doctors and other health professionals into coded form for record keeping, use of other medical professionals, and often for billing and insurance purposes. This is accomplished by reviewing and analyzing patient health records to determine relevant diagnoses and treatment plans for individual patients. In addition, this process often requires contact with the providers of a patient’s healthcare in order to ensure proper coding.

Killeen is a city in Bell County, Texas, United States. According to the recent populations estimates, its population was 140,806, making it the 21st most populous city in Texas. It is the principal city of the Killeen–Temple–Fort Hood Metropolitan Statistical Area. Killeen is directly adjacent to the main cantonment of Fort Hood, and as such its economy heavily depends on the post and the soldiers (and their families) stationed there. Elvis Presley was stationed there. In 1881, the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway extended its tracks through central Texas, buying 360 acres (1.5 km2) a few miles southwest of a small farming community known as Palo Alto, which had existed since about 1872.
