A private duty nurse is a person who cares for a patient inside the comfort of their own home. This is a position which will work primarily indoors. While minimal travel may be required within the position itself, this is all depending on the patient and their needs. A private duty nurse will typically hold a regular work schedule, though extended hours and overnight shifts will be required of many private duty nurses. While this type of nurse can work amongst a team of other nurses, this person will typically work independently.
