They are responsible for developing merchandising guidelines that ensure optimal product turnover, margin, and customer satisfaction. Wholesale and retail buyers should ensure that relevant individuals in their organization have needed product knowledge. They are also responsible for analyzing sales information to determine what need to be purchased, as well as communicate the needs of the business to the management team on a regular basis.
