The most popular career sector among alumni is the accounting, auditing and tax services industry. Given the high SAT scores reported by BSC grads, their lower-than-average salaries are somewhat surprising. Median pay for those who graduated from BSC amounts to around $40K.
There is a sizable difference between men's post-college salaries and women's: the median for the former is approximately $106K, but the median for the latter is only $30K.
Among BSC graduates, the biggest earners are Senior Tax Managers, who haul in $128K on average.
BSC alumni seem to appreciate living in Birmingham, and a majority of grads actually choose to stay and find employment here after completing their coursework.
Many former BSC students are familiar with Tax Consulting, and roughly two in five grads move on to positions where this experience is utilized. Tax Consulting commands a pay premium of 220 percent for Birmingham Southern College grads.
Benefits and Perks
Health benefits extend to a fair number of alumni, and a majority of alumni also receive dental coverage. A strong majority of former students set up a 401(k) to save for retirement.
Among alumni of similar schools, Agnes Scott College grads (who make an average of about $39K) earn salaries most similar to BSC alumni. Talladega College, Judson College, and Morehouse College are also similar to BSC.
