Nearing the top of the pay scale are Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants, Registered Nurses, and Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants; while the first receives the highest median pay at approximately $38.92 per hour, the other salaries come in at around $29.10, about $28.74, and $26.79, respectively. Certified Nurse Assistants at Kindred Healthcare do not see much in the way of financial compensation and represent one of the lower-paid positions ($12.16 on average) at the company.


When it comes to location, the highest average paycheck ($30.97 per hour) can be spotted in San Francisco, Calif.; St. Louis, Mo. (around $29.07), Chicago, Ill. Certifications and Degrees

Salaries approach around $30.65 per hour for Registered Nurses; non-accredited workers make much less. Employees who have a Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) make the most here, hauling in $39.21 per hour.


In this role, the best-paying skill appears to be Geriatrics; individuals who claim it among their capabilities enjoy a higher median salary of $27.07 per hour. Folks here also tend to know Long Term Care; on the survey, nearly one in four of workers named it in their skills portfolios. Rehabilitation, Acute Care, and Elder Care are also desirable skills.


Employees who participated in the survey skew strongly female, with a female-to-male ratio of more than 3 to 1.

A fifth of workers have paid vacation, and only about one in ten employees can take paid time off for illness. A majority of survey participants save for retirement through Kindred Healthcare's 401(k) plan.
