Nurse Educator Reviews

Q: What is it like working as a Nurse Educator?

Nurse Educator in Windsor:
"Helping in health is rewarding."
Pros: I like making a positive difference in the health of a person. Through education I have helped individuals make healthy lifestyle changes that has impacted upon the quality of their lives as well as the longevity. It is very rewarding for me to help a physician deliver excellent care and education that improves the patients health and efficiency of care provided.
Cons: The small work force and lack of a equal colleague makes the work arena stressful I am expected to optimize the physician's caseload daily and provide him the ability to expand his practice of over 3000 patients. I must provide counseling for all chronic illnesses and the time allotted per patient continues to be decreased. The pace can be very demanding and the expectations for my role continues to expand. Getting vacation time is difficult as there is no other personnel to do my job which adds stress to all staff when I am granted the time off. I do not have benefits nor vacation time formally outlined in a contract.

Nurse Educator in Toronto:
"Creating Healthcare Leaders."
Pros: Helping front line staff to move their career forward and making a difference in others.
Cons: Lack of time to prepare adequately at times.
