Job Description for Program Management Director, Education

An education program director is responsible for regularly overseeing one or more school programs and coordinating all faculty, students, organizations, and materials needed for the success of the program or programs. The basic background most desirable for an education program director job is threefold: experience in teaching in any type of classroom, superior organizational skills, and a basic knowledge of marketing, fundraising, networking and event planning.

Because of the vast array of tasks and duties involved in this job, being able to create relationships with people in many different fields is a huge benefit. Also important is having a wide variety of connections with other professionals. With all of the different people and personalities a program director must work with on a daily basis, it goes without saying that a friendly and sociable personality is a necessity in this field. Organizing and directing a large number of people and groups to come together to put together a program or event requires patience, as well as excellent problemsolving and stress-management skills.

Some of the basic tasks involved in an educational program director's job are fundraising, evaluating content quality of all written directives, creating curriculum, recruiting, directing, and assigning tasks and roles to volunteers and staff, developing programs, scheduling, doing community outreach, acting as a liaison between the school and all outside resources, and managing money to make sure all funds are accounted for and used efficiently.
