Wages in China
Recent news reports indicate that wages in China are going up, at least for factory workers who manufacture products primarily for export. This has numerous implications for the foreign markets that depend on inexpensive labor in China in order to keep product prices low. It's most likely good news, though, for the factory workers who have traditionally earned very low wages. A quick glance at the hourly wage chart above shows how much lower wages tend to be for factory workers than for employees in other positions. Of course, there is generally a wage gap between positions based on the level of education or training required. Other factors that affect wages in China include location, type of employer and industry. Looking at the chart on Wages in China by Industry shows that architecture, electrical, and education jobs have higher median wages than jobs in some other fields.
