Job Description for Director, Marketing & Business Development

The director of marketing and business development's primary function is to guide their company in a positive direction in marketing and business practices. Their goal is to increase profits for their company. They do so by implementing strategies and ideas to work with in the marketing sector, as well as by learning what strategies are proving successful in all areas of business . Another duty they perform is managing key client accounts. The director of marketing and business development typically works in an office during normal business hours. As they are typically high up in their company, they usually report to an executive such as a general manager or president.

This position typically requires at least a bachelor's degree in marketing or business administration. However, most positions require a master's of business administration. The job also required five to 10 years of experience in marketing or business administration.
Director, Marketing & Business Development Tasks
  • Develop and maintain relationships with decision makers of new and existing clients, and media outlets.
  • Research and analyze target markets to develop strategic and tactical plans to grow the business.
  • Oversee staff operations, business planning and budget development.
  • Plan, direct and oversee the marketing and business development initiatives within an organization.
