Job Description for Project Manager, Pharmaceuticals

Pharmaceutical project managers oversee the development of new medicines or medical equipment. They must be well organized and able to handle working with several different groups of people. They work with the engineers who create the medicines and medical equipment, the doctors who run pharmaceutical trials and the clinical researchers who compile all of the findings in medical trials. They also spend time in board and conference rooms or in a laboratory. They may visit medicine plants where the medicine they are working with is being produced and developed. Or they may visit medical facilities where trials are run. They are usually required to travel several times a year to these types locations. Pharmaceutical project managers' generally have standard weekday hours from 8 or 9 a.m. to 4 or 5 p.m. Lastly, they are required to have at least a bachelor's degree in clinical research (or a related field) and experience in clinical research as well as in management.
