Extended Stay America Hotels offers customers hotel rooms and packages that are intended for extended periods of time. Founded in 1995 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the hotel chain moved to South Carolina in 2001. Extended Stay America Hotels owns brands with varying levels of service, including Extended Stay Deluxe. In 2004, when the company had 425 hotels, it became private to form a new company called Extended Stay Hotels. The new brand added 225 properties and was sold in 2007 to the Lightstone Group for $8 billion.
