Army infantry captains answer to higher-level managers in a strict chain of command while supervising lower-level managerial elements of the army infantry. They help create and implement mission parameters for infantry activities, and may also work as advisers for other military units and liaisons between their government's military and another government's military.
Each infantry captain is responsible for managing 200 - 300 infantry soldiers in the performance of their duties. Another part of an army infantry captain's job is to ensure that severe home issues of their subordinates are addressed, as the army acknowledges that problems at home affect the morale and performance of their soldiers.
Unlike most civilian managers, they are required to meet a high standard of physical fitness as part of their job requirements. In addition to standard educational requirements for middle management, such as a bachelor's degree, those in this position also undergo intensive education in specialized military subjects. Working hours vary greatly and are subject to change at a moment's notice; at times, army infantry captains are separated from their families for extended periods of time, sometimes up to a year or more. Their work environments also vary from office settings to primitive battlefield conditions.
