Job Description for Clinical Geneticist

Clinical geneticists, whose work blends science and medicine with working with patients, are responsible for analyzing genomic data in a variety of ways pertaining to medicine and biotechnology. They generally work in office settings and diagnose medical conditions related to genetic errors, as well as develop plans for how to treat these patients. Some may also work alongside pharmaceutical companies to create drugs which treat these genetic problems. The work can often be divided into two halves, the first being the lab where they analyze genomic sequences of patients, and the second being a clinical setting in which they work with patients and their families.
