Job Description for Kitchen Assistant, Restaurant

Kitchen assistants work in a variety of restaurants to perform basic food preparation, and they usually report to a head chef and ensure that he/she has everything needed to prepare food. They must always follow strict hygiene, health, and safety rules, and are often responsible for cleaning the kitchen and equipment, tools, counters, surfaces, and so on. They may also throw away garbage, wash dishes, and keep track of kitchen inventory to ensure that necessary ingredients and spices are always available.
