Job Description for Makeup Artist, Theatrical and Performance

Theatrical and performance makeup artists use makeup to ensure performers meet the needs of the theatrical or performance piece in which they are working. They must work with a director or other manager to determine makeup-related needs, as well as determine the supplies necessary to carry out this vision. These professionals must plan how they will apply the makeup, which must account for the performers' skin tone, sensitivities and other factors; they also need to prepare for events during the performance that may affect makeup, as well as create models or drawings for planning purposes.
