Job Description for Marine Corp Corporal, Ground Combat

Marine corp corporals represent the fourth enlisted rank in the United States Marine Corps, above lance corporals and below sergeants. As corporals, they hold the lowest grade for a non-commissioned officer rank in the U.S. Marine Corps. They are to be addressed by their title, which is “Corporal” followed by their last names, and most are promoted to this rank from the rank of lance corporal. However, in some cases a service-member can be promoted from a rank below lance corporal if and when extraordinary ability has been demonstrated. Lance corporals who pursue the rank of corporal must complete the Leading Marines course and a command-sponsored Lance Corporals Leadership and Ethics Seminar.
