A senior sales representative of communications services must have extensive knowledge of their company's products and target markets, as the job requires regular conversations with interested buyers and customers. These representatives generally work autonomously, except in some irregular scenarios.
This position may require some travel to a customer's location (depending on the product) or extensive time on the phone taking inquires or answering questions for potential clients. This is an office position, and intermediate computer skills are important to organize product information and process payments. These representatives generally work traditional business hours, though some overtime may be required depending on the employer. Weekend work may occasionally be required to reach quotas and/or handle client interactions.
A college degree is not necessarily required for this position if prior work experience, often five years or more, is sufficient to fulfill it. Finally, senior sales representatives of communication services must be able to assist, train, and educate newer sales representatives in proper techniques, laws, and procedures for handling business transactions. Licenses or certifications may be required for some insurance- or finance-focused positions.
