Graduates of Rush University are found working in a number of different fields including clinical care, the pediatrician's office industry, and the biotechnology research and development industry. A large chunk of former Rush University students are employed in the health care industry; in fact, this is the most popular job sector for this population. Less than five percent of Rush University grads move into the rehabilitation and health care center industry — it is the road least traveled for this demographic. Those with an education from Rush University earn an average of approximately $79K.

In the Rush University alumni community, men make a median salary of about $124K compared to their female counterparts, who earn $75K.

Former Rush University students with an interest in making money consider becoming Certified Nurse Anesthetists, the highest-paying gig (average earnings amount to $145K) among this alumni group. Other well-paid jobs include Biotechnology Senior Research Scientists ($116K) and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners (around $108K). Collecting the smallest paychecks are Pediatric Occupational Therapists — they bring in $51K.

Graduates of Rush University seem to enjoy living in Chicago, and about two in five grads wind up living and working there after graduation. It is also not uncommon to find former Rush University students living and working in San Francisco, Calif. — this top-paying city is a popular destination with a median salary of $112K. Rush University alumni in Atlanta, Ga. can often be found sliding in at the lower end of the pay scale, where median paychecks are the smallest at $79K. Fall River, Mass. and Elgin, Ill. are also desirable cities.

Degree Major

A Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Nurse Anesthesia earns Rush University students the most money after college (an average about $165K per year). A Master of Science (MS), Clinical Research commands less pay, and these degree-holders face median pay of $48K.

Pediatrics is a popular skill among Rush University alumni, with nearly one-sixth of workers reporting using it on the job. Knowledge of Anesthesia seems to be related to bigger paychecks; in fact, skilled alumni bring in salaries that are double their former classmates' salaries (approximately $162K). Other prime know-hows include Cardiology, Anesthesia, and Acute Care.

Benefits and Perks

A lucky minority (about one-third of alumni) are fortunate enough to be compensated for vacation while just one-fourth of alumni get sick time. In an effort to save up for the years ahead, most graduates contribute to a 401(k). Benefits are rather generous for graduates of this school; a large number of alums are rewarded with health insurance and a strong majority of survey participants report dental coverage, too. Other benefits that Rush University alumni receive are life insurance, 403(b), tuition reimbursement, and malpractice / liability insurance.
