Senior sales associates must be familiar with the products and/or services provided by their company so they can identify which may be best-suited for their client and answer any questions. These professionals must also stay up to date on the latest trends and requirements within their clients' field(s). In some positions, the sales associate is required to create reports on clients' needs and sales data, potentially presenting these findings to the appropriate departments as well. Developing new marketing ideas to attract more customers may also be an important part of this job.
Additionally, since this is a senior-level position, senior sales associates may be responsible for leading a team. In a leadership capacity, the associate must provide guidance, training, and discipline to employees as necessary; additionally, they must regularly communicate with other departments and senior management as necessary.
For senior sales associate positions at retail outlets, a high school diploma or equivalent is usually the minimum educational requirement; in an office setting, at least a bachelor's degree may be needed.
