Boilermakers are responsible for building, installing, repairing, and maintaining boilers and large tanks or vats, and this work typically involves a variety of skilled labor techniques, including welding and metalworking. These boilers are typically parts of liquid pressure systems which may be situated in industrial facilities such as power plants, manufacturing facilities, and even large institutions like hospitals and schools. Boilermaker Tasks

  • Assemble, install, and repair boilers, closed vats, and other large vessels or containers that hold liquids and gases.
  • Interpret work orders, job orders, specifications, blueprints, ISO's or other drawings and recognize basic blueprint terms and symbols accurately.
  • Repair boilers, tanks, and vessels in the field by unbolting or flame cutting defective sections using torches, jacks, caulking hammers, power saws, threading dies, welding equipment, and metalworking machinery.
  • Bolt or weld casing sections, uptakes, stacks, baffles, tower manways, trays, chutes, and air heaters, fan stands, feeding tube, catwalks, ladders, hopper and safety hatches to frames.
  • Hammer, flame-cut, file or grind irregular edges of structural parts.

Hey guys boiler making is ok I work with heavy transport mainly making tipping bodys stock crates trays tool boxes fuel tanks water tanks all the way upto mine spec 200 tonne dump truck watertanks and out of every type of metal you can think of aluminium and stainless are becoming more common. We also do everything that comes with that like alot of hydraulic and air over electric systems depending on what ur doing sometimes it can be creative and rewarding sometimes a cnt of a job always hot uv gotta like being burnt and sweating all the time not very rewarding from a health point of view been doin it eight years now wont be able to by fifty most blokes doin it are fd by then. Money wise ok around town around 25 to 30 hr best iv been paid for just a workshop town job 38hr with a trade and a bit of exp but to earn big u will need to go to the mines. Uncertain in the industry atm manufacturing has been shutting up and dying everywhere iv been pretty fortunate in the trade others not so.
