Job Description for Director of Human Resources (HR)

Human resources directors are responsible for guiding and managing the overall activities of their companies' human resources (HR) departments. These responsibilities include managing HR services and policies along with programs for the entire company. HR directors serve as advocates who ensures that all company and employee interactions are handled in a fair and consistent manner. Other responsibilities generally include recruiting, orientation, development and training of new employees, payroll processing, and salary and benefit administration. HR directors are also responsible for employee relations and policy development along with performance improvement. They generally report directly to the CEO (or other executive staff members) and are responsible for compliance with all regulatory concerns.
