Event Manager Advice

Q: What is it like working as an Event Manager?

Event Manager in Perth:
"Event management career."
I've settled into event management and enjoyed the role because I have a strong attention to detail and I love working with clients. I wish I new how difficult it is to find Event Management roles that pay more than $60,000 per year. After 8 years working in event management I haven't had many opportunities to earn more than this. If I wanted to work in a different role - for example as a professional conference organiser - people in these jobs have told me it's extremely stressful with lots of overtime and difficult clients. Event management can be a stressful job, and there aren't often overtime policies - you'll work a lot of overtime with no reward. It is fun working with clients, I've loved working on weddings and corporate events.

Event Manager in Sydney:
"Job packages and commission structures."
Time management, product/event focus, key staff retention and mutually beneficial business relationships.

Event Manager in Melbourne:
"Versatility."
Pros: Versatile work, no day is like the other. Working with different people. Projects. Coaching and leading others.
Cons: Dealing with customer complaints. Managing catering requirements and service.
