Retail Store Manager in Brisbane:
"Flexible but stressful with little room to move."
Pros: Overall the environment is good - I am not micromanaged by the GM and am able to arrange my store how I see fit (including visual displays) and retail has always been a field I enjoy. And that is it. That's literally the only good thing.
Cons: Shoddy equipment (ie; ancient register, broken fax, temperamental phone, no hot water, constantly shorting overhead lights), terrible on-site maintenance staff, ridiculously tight budgets, difficulty coordinating pick-ups from our factory/kitchen store, the inability to choose which suppliers we go through, being constantly understaffed (business owner will not allow hiring of more assistants), dealing with staff who can't think for themselves or take initiative (and the ones who do take initiative do so in ways that cause horrible messes that I need to untangle)... Also customers. Angry customers who don't understand that international orders sometimes take time.

Retail Store Manager in Brisbane:
"Career Progression."
Pros: Opportunity to grow and develop, buying and designing of product. Marketing and brand development.
Cons: Slower sales and general quietness of the business and staffing issues.
