An excavator operator operates heavy machinery to move materials and clear ground, digging holes and trenches to prepare sites for construction. They may also be required to occasionally perform maintenance on the machines. A typical day for an excavator operator is often spent on a construction site in conditions that can be unpredictable and/or extreme; for example, there may be heat, cold, dust, and noise.
