Job Description for Furniture Removalist

A furniture removalist transports furniture from one location to another. The furniture may be removed for a variety of reasons, such as disposal or moves; moves may occur within the same area or over much longer distances. The furniture removalist may coordinate with third parties to facilitate transportation across longer distances. When furniture is removed, it is important for the removalist to ensure that furniture does not get scuffed or otherwise damaged; this may require wrapping and padding the furniture prior to removal. Furniture should be placed carefully within the moving truck and organized well alongside other items. A furniture removalist may work for a moving company or perform work on a freelance, as-needed basis.
