A welding inspector oversees other welders to make sure that they are carrying out welding techniques properly and are adhering to time constraints and safety standards. The welding inspector also needs to periodically inspect equipment to make sure that it is in working order. When there are methods and procedures that can be improved in the welding guidelines, the welding inspector must update the standards. The welding inspector may be in charge of providing training for a group of welders and getting them certified. Inspection of the welding results also needs to be done to make sure that they are meeting standards. Therefore, public speaking skills may come in handy.
