Job Description for Brewmaster
Brewmasters generally work for brewing companies to make beer. They manage brewing operations, training workers on how to make high-quality beer that meets their employer's standards and conducting quality control to ensure beer is made in accordance with established ingredients and recipes. Additionally, brewmasters must make sure brewery equipment is clean and running properly, and they perform regular maintenance on the equipment. Other tasks performed by brewmasters include ordering ingredients and brewery supplies, conducting inventory control, supervising packaging and tracking expenses. They may instruct brewery workers, as well as file any necessary paperwork with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. Significant experience with brewing beer is generally required for this position; relevant education such as a bachelor's degree in chemistry may be preferred. Brewmasters must be able to work effectively in a team environment, as well as on their own with minimal supervision, to meet organizational goals. They must also be able to meet physical requirements for the position, which may include the need to stoop, bend, squat, stand for long periods of time and tolerate a hot work environment.
