Job Description for Clinical Informatics Specialist

The clinical information specialist position works in a medical facility with a significant number of medical records to manage. They build user interfaces and teach the clinical staff to use them properly. Like other managers, they must create ongoing process improvement plans and document accomplishments for regular reports to supervisors and management. In smaller practices, the clinical information specialist is more of a generalist, interacting with individuals providing and needing access to the records, as well as directing others who perform data entry and evaluation. These facilities may be entering paper records into computer systems; the clinical informatics specialists helps plan and manage this transition. This job is typically full time during regular business hours.
