Dental Assistant (Certified) Advice

Q: What do you wish you knew about your job when you first started out?

Dental Assistant (Certified) in Burnaby:
"Don't Start This Career Path."
CDA's do not get benefits in most practices. You are entirely dependent on the Doctor (if they want a month of you go unpaid). 123Dentist.com/ WestcoastDental are buying the great majority of the practices in the lower mainland(Vancouver -> Chilliwack) and perform unethical treatment of patients and of Staff. I have worked at a number of practices within this group and they are all terrible. This career is hard on your body and the wage is so low you cannot afford therapy to maintain. The Dental Hygiene market is saturated and affected in all the same ways. DO NOT GO INTO THIS CAREER. I have wasted time and money educating myself to be one of the best and still am treated in a way that corporations should be embarrassed by. It is standard in this practice to hire unqualified staff for the lowest possible wages and also exploit visible minorities with lower wages.
