Graphic Designer Reviews
What is it like working as a Graphic Designer?
January 2019
Creative work, minimum appreciation.
Graphic Designer in Toronto:
Pros: Overall, I enjoy working fairly freely and creatively developing brand, album covers, and campaigns for Canadian artists.
Cons: However, I feel a lack of appreciation at Universal. The pay is very low compared to other major labels, and I do not see room for growth. Mediocre leadership has resulted in this company being stuck in their ways. They encourage the hiring of younger out of school talent, however don't nurture them to feel respected and many ideas tend to get shut down because of the employers who have "settled" in their role for the past 10+ years. Even after asking for well over a year, four times, for a raise (with all employee reviews stating I am "walking on water and to keep it up") I have been told that "time = money, be patient".
Creative atmosphere, somewhat. Long-term career? Probably not.
