Graphic Designer Advice

Q: What is it like working as a Graphic Designer?

Graphic Designer in Vancouver:
"Enjoyable work But A Struggle For Big Money."
This is a great career for those who love it. I'm one of those people who can actually say I love my job and I like going into the office. In return, however, there is definitely a pay cap if you work in certain areas. Advertising may pay more, but can be more demanding and less creative depending on your skills. It is possible to make great money, but you have to work hard so don't go into this if its not something you love!

Graphic Designer in Hamilton:
"Jack Of All Trades, No Time To Master One."
Being bounced around from project to project is going to be frustrating. Learn to let the big picture take precedent. If there isn't a cohesive big picture guiding your work, go elsewhere.

Graphic Designer in Mississauga:
"Pretty Cool."
Pros: Job is cool.
Cons: Needs better pay.

Graphic Designer in Toronto:
"Knowing how knowledgeable your employers are."
Be prepared for your ideas not to be considered.

Graphic Designer in Toronto:
"Creative environment, great office conditions."
Pros: Surrounded by talented people, beautiful and modern facilities, open concept office, access to high end technology, located by the waterfront.
Cons: Not much choice of food in the immediate area.

Graphic Designer in Toronto:
"Keep Current... Learn all the new technologies"
Always learn the newest technologies: websites, e-commerce, Mobile apps, social media, motion graphics, movie editing, and whatever comes next. If this doesn't sound like what you want to do: quit and choose to do something else. Because nobody wants a designer who can't do everything.

Graphic Designer in Calgary:
