Recreational vehicle (RV) service technicians have a variety of responsibilities associated with these vehicles, many of which revolve around diagnosing mechanical problems, performing inspections and maintenance, and performing any necessary repairs.Read More...
Repairs which may be needed by RVs vary greatly, and range from plumbing, gas lines, and appliances to typical automotive repair work on the engine or transmission. RV service technicians must be able to lift heavy objects, often up to one-hundred pounds, and computer skills are also beneficial to understand computer-related problems and run diagnostic tests. Prior experience working with recreation vehicles is highly beneficial, but not necessarily required for the position. Finally, RV service technicians deal directly with customers and clients, so good communication skills and a positive attitude are extremely important.
Those in this position generally work during traditional business hours, but overtime may occasionally be necessary if a project is behind or near completion. Some may also be on-call to respond to emergency service needs, but these are relatively rare among RVs. (Copyright 2018 PayScale.com)
