A supply chain supervisor's main responsibility is providing hands-on leadership to subordinates, directing the team members under their supervision to meet organizational goals. They provide instruction and training for their subordinates, as well as establish procedures and schedules. Additionally, supply chain supervisors are responsible for making sure that all problems that emerge are quickly and efficiently resolved. They also need to ensure that all procedures, processes, and activities related to the supply chain are performed up to company standards, and they must develop suggestions on how to improve them. Supply chain supervisor positions generally require at least a high school diploma or equivalent, but a postsecondary degree is usually preferred. Previous supply-chain experience is needed as well. Supply chain supervisors should have excellent leadership skills, flexibility, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences.
