Job Description for Landscape Architect
A landscape architect designs outdoor spaces for residential, commercial and public use. The landscape architect provides consultations to clients to assess their needs and determine how the desired concept could be carried out. The architect makes sure that the plan is appropriate for human use and the environment. They use AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite and/or other related software to design landscapes for the client’s approval; the ability to read and create blueprints is also important, and sometimes hand sketches must be created. Often, the client has a specific budget and the landscape architect must work to use high-quality materials that still fit within this budget. A bachelor's or master's degree in landscape architecture is typically the minimum educational requirement for landscape architect positions.
