Payroll officers monitor an office's payroll. They are responsible for collecting timesheet information of each employee, calculating the amount to disburse to each employee in the pay period, calculate taxes, send money to accounts, and write checks. Their work setting is usually in an office, and the position is found in a wide variety of businesses. Payroll officers work with people on every level of the business, ranging from the entry level workers to the chief executive officer (CEO).
