An assistant registrar works in the administrative department of a learning institution that handles registration and student records. This position is found in almost every university and college, including online colleges. A bachelor’s degree in a field such as business administration is highly recommended (and often required) by institutions. This position requires extensive knowledge regarding laws relating to student entrance into college (including homeland security regulations, privacy act regulations, etc.). This person generally works standard daytime office hours in an office, although extended hours may be asked or required.
