Finance clerks perform a variety of clerical duties in support of finance departments of companies in a wide array of fields. These clerks are generally expected to analyze financial documents such as invoices, receipts, and reports to ensure their accuracy; when mistakes are detected, they will work with management to resolve them. They may also be involved in collections of owed payments. In some positions, they also have duties relating to payroll administration and basic clerical duties such as organizing correspondence, answering phone calls, filing, and keeping inventory of office supplies. Some positions require only a high school diploma, while others may require at least an associate’s degree in accounting or a related field. Experience with Quickbooks and other financial software and adequate skills in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook are highly beneficial.
