Vaisala, Inc. Reviews
What is it like working at Vaisala, Inc.?
Administrative Assistant:
Vaisala does not assign appropriate titles to their job descriptions. In my opinion this is to keep their payroll costs low. My title is Admin Assist, but the tasks I perform for the Seattle office are in line with an office manager, and safety coordinator. My pay rate, however, is for an admin assist, not for an office manager/safety coordinator. Vaisala is based in Finland, and the management there does not understand the concept of equitable pay for work performed. There is a significant difference between the rate of pay between these two positions, which makes it difficult to survive in Seattle because the cost of living in is extremely high.
There are a few things about my position that I find extremely satisfying - the variety of tasks, and the safety coordinator responsibilities. The people in the office that I work with are great. The benefits at this company are excellent. If the pay scale at Vaisala was more equitable, I would have given the company a rating of 5 stars.
Satisfying, and Frustrating.
Office Manager in Seattle:
Pros: The variety of tasks, the people I work with, the flexible schedule, and the benefits
Cons: The job title does not match the actual tasks required for this position. As a result, the rate of pay is much lower than the rate of pay someone else would get if they were doing the same tasks.
Great experience.
Software Engineer in Helsinki:
Pros: The tech diversity
Cons: No real oportunity to grow
Go an extra mile with little or no compensation.
Administrative / Office Manager in Seattle:
Pros: Flexible schedule, casual dress
Cons: Lack of compensation for level of responsibility
Go an extra mile with little or no compensation.
Administrative Assistant in Seattle:
