Assistant Controller Reviews

Q: What is it like working as an Assistant Controller?

Assistant Controller in Pembroke Pines:
"Office."
Pros: The flexibility, family orientated.
Cons: The long hours after work finishes.

Assistant Controller in Boulder:
"Fun."
Pros: Trainer, support the entire accounting team, diverse, good cooperative team.
Cons: W2 season!

Assistant Controller in New York:
"Boring."
Don't do accounting. Do something fun.

Assistant Controller in Las Vegas:
"Don't delay in getting public accounting experience."
I did not get public accounting experience right out of college. I ultimately passed the CPA exam and met the necessary experience requirements to obtain my license, but it was extremely challenging considering the fact that I was working full time while working towards my license. I would definitely recommend that anyone coming out of school with an accounting degree should take a position with a public firm to obtain the necessary experience hours for CPA licensure as soon as possible.

Assistant Controller in Atlanta:
"Experience is invaluable while your young... Intern, intern!"
Observe all the information you can....glean what you can from all the experiences good/bad as well as experiences that occur with other people.

Assistant Controller in Santa Barbara:
"Path to success."
To begin your accounting career, put in your time at a large corporation in their accounting pool (assuming you don't go to work directly for the Big 4). Learn everything you can for 2 years, then make the jump to Senior Accountant or Accounting Manager. Learn how to leverage and delegate for 2 years, then find a growing company that can use your honed skill set.

Assistant Controller in St. Charles:
Pros: Enjoy the work, the location and my co-workers.
Cons: Some weeks require 45 to 50 hours per week or longer at year end. At the current time, I also am responsible for benefit administration, including 401K and insurance.
