Job Description for Civil Engineering Designer

A civil engineering designer works under the direction of a project manager to prepare civil engineering plans and studies for land development engineering projects. Potential projects might include utility, storm drain, water, sewer, street, and traffic plans for projects within the organization's area of service. Civil engineering designers must work effectively with internal and external partners, including coordinating with public agencies on land development projects. They work closely with colleagues to gain an understanding of the project requirements and create designs in conjunction with office procedures, policies, and guidelines. In all tasks, these professionals must comply with company drawing preparation standards.
