Job Description

Clinical medical assistants perform basic patient care activities within healthcare organizations, generally under the supervision of a registered nurse. They perform duties such as helping patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, feeding patients, updating clinical records, and helping lift and move patients as needed. Clinical medical assistants also answer patients' call lights and help ensure their rooms are comfortable, as well assist patients in using the bathroom. Clinical medical assistants may also take patients' vital signs, collect and label samples or specimens to be sent to a laboratory for further study, and record relevant information into patients' files. They must inform other members of the healthcare team of any important changes in patients' conditions, and they need to follow relevant organizational guidelines and laws at all times.
