The development coordinator of a nonprofit organization has numerous responsibilities related to organizational fundraising. They are the point person for planning and executing events, keeping track of money, and coordinating volunteers and interns. The coordinator manages meetings, work groups, and staff meetings as well. They generate email lists to contact vendors and volunteers for nonprofit events and news, and they process and track bills related to events; the coordinator may be asked to create an accounts payable if requested by their manager. Development coordinators must have strong leadership skills to manage volunteers and successfully run events. Organization skills are also a big must, as the development coordinator often handles many unique tasks at once. Additionally, they must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access to maintain the fundraising database and keep track of other documents.
