Job Description for Epidemiologist

An epidemiologist is a research scientist who studies the relationship between the spread of communicable diseases and the cultures and vectors in which these illnesses spread. The epidemiologist collects data to cover a variety of cultural factors and then helps to find ways for populations and cultural groups to stop, or at least impede, the spread of the disease.


Epidemiologist Tasks

  • Conduct research to develop methodologies, instrumentation and procedures for medical application, analyzing and interpreting data and presenting findings.
  • Plan, administer and evaluate health safety standards and programs to improve public health, conferring with health department, industry personnel and physicians.
  • Plan and direct studies to investigate disease, preventive methods and treatments.
